On April 26, the 12th edition of the Carrefour 10K took place, once again proving that sports can be a powerful tool for solidarity and social transformation.
From the early hours of the morning, runners from all around gathered to be part of this experience. The day began at 5:10 a.m. with the official opening, highlighting the main purpose of the event: to support Fundación Amigos Contra el Cáncer Infantil (FACCI) and Oír para Vivir. The event was hosted by Zeny Leyva and Brea Frank, who guided each moment with energy and enthusiasm.
Following the welcome remarks by Karine Noetinger, Carrefour’s purchasing manager, participants took part in a warm-up led by Universal Fitness, followed by a moment of reflection with a prayer by Father Luca Burato and the national anthem. The official start of the 10K race was at 6:00 a.m.
Throughout the course, emotion, commitment, and a strong sense of community were evident. The event coverage captured every moment, from the starting line to the finish line at Parque Vista al Mar on the Malecón, where activities continued.
At the finish area, the celebration carried on with various activities, stretching sessions, and entertainment for participants. One of the most meaningful moments of the day was the symbolic check presentation, where both FACCI and Oír para Vivir each received a contribution of RD$1,600,000. This support represents a vital contribution to continue developing programs that directly impact the lives of children and families in the Dominican Republic.
For Oír para Vivir, this contribution will help strengthen initiatives such as early detection, hearing aid distribution, and therapeutic support, providing access to hearing for those who need it most.
The event also included special recognitions, awards for the top finishers in both male and female categories, as well as raffles and activities that closed the day in an atmosphere of celebration and gratitude.
