From April 25 to 30, 2025, we experienced six unforgettable days during our Mission Number 16, marking a new chapter in the history of Fundación Oír para Vivir. This mission not only brought sound to 209 people (189 children and 20 teachers), but also hope, smiles, and partnerships that strengthen our commitment to a more inclusive world.

The mission began on Friday the 25th with follow-up checkups for 35 previously assisted children and evaluations of new cases from our eight partner schools, with whom we’ve worked since 2019.

The weekend was particularly special. On Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th, we welcomed 80 children from Hogar del Niño, one of the new institutions joining our network this year. Watching these little ones receive their hearing aids for the first time was an incredibly emotional moment. On Sunday, we were also honored by the visit of actress Evelyna Rodríguez, our ambassador, whose presence lit up the day.

From Monday the 28th to Wednesday the 30th, we moved to another newly incorporated school: the Christian Special School for the Deaf in North Santo Domingo. Over three days, we conducted evaluations, delivered hearing aids, and trained a point person from each school to ensure ongoing support and follow-up for beneficiaries.

Tuesday the 29th was one of the most memorable days. We had the official visit of Ms. Sonia Barbry, Ambassador of France to the Dominican Republic. Her presence was a powerful show of support for the work we do with the French Development Agency (AFD), which has supported our school intervention program since 2019.

That same day, IBC Shipyard generously assisted with transportation, helping us move children in buses and greatly easing the mission’s logistics.

On Wednesday the 30th, we ended on a high note. We received a visit from the Lycée Français de Saint-Domingue and Ms. Karine Noetinger, Sales Director of Carrefour, the company that generously provided meals for each day of the mission.

Throughout the week, we were able to deliver 352 hearing aids to 209 people. A number that means so much more than just statistics—it represents new opportunities for communication, education, and integration.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the support of our allies:

  • @afd_france: for standing by us all year and believing in our cause.
  • @auditionsolidarite: for providing invaluable specialist support throughout the week.
  • @meetinggodinmissions: for offering us a space that is essential to this mission.
  • @carrefourmarketrd: for their daily generosity in keeping us nourished.
  • @ibcshipyard: for handling transportation for our beneficiaries.

We close this edition of the mission with full hearts and the certainty that every encounter and every new sound was worth it.
